Cruising for the younger generation

Cruise ships often carry a certain stigma with them; older people with no energy sitting on a ship and being ferried around and being entertained by average performances and performers. What that stigma has meant, for both the industry and for would be holiday makers, is that younger people, and young families, have avoided cruises for a very long time. They have been missing out, and cruise companies are positioning themselves to cater to younger audiences as well.
Some of the older ships still maintain all the trappings of the older generation; those will be very difficult, not to mention expensive, to change for the companies. Still, the shops on board are stocking more adolescent friendly goods, while the shows on display are starting to feature music from more contemporary artists. The newer ships, though, feature a dazzling array of fittings to suit all ages. Water rides, surfing, tennis, pools and golf; the range of activities on display is mind boggling and puts to bed the idea of older cruises.
