Nottingham: Not the best of places.

While my UK adventures have been limited so far there is one city I have been to on repeated occasions that has never impressed me. I am sorry East Midlands (or maybe not if you are very proud of your particular town) but Nottingham is pretty bleak. I have to visit fairly regularly to see my girlfriend and not once, not one single time, has the sun been shining on that awful place. It’s not just that; even in the sunshine I can’t imagine it’s nice. There’s something in the atmosphere, something in the architecture that just doesn’t quite gel with me.

After scaling the hill at Nottingham Castle and having a look over the city nothing stood out. A couple of football stadiums, a cricket ground and some noticeable industrial sites were what the people seemed to be most proud of. The people there seem to be nice enough, there’s also a cat cafe that has recently opened, but aside from that there are very little redeeming features for the place.
